My Story

Hi, I’m Michelle — the designer and hands behind Knot Perfect Designs.

I’ve always been drawn to things with a little history: old textiles, unexpected color combinations, worn denim, beautiful stitches, and pieces that feel collected rather than mass-produced.

But the thread that runs through all of this started long before Knot Perfect Designs.

Crochet has been part of my life since my MomMom Doyle — Sadie — first put a hook in my hands. Like a lot of things, I picked it up and set it down over the years as life got busy. Then one fall night, I sat down with yarn in my lap and a hook in my hand again.

This time, I didn’t stop.

What began with crochet slowly grew into something much bigger. I started experimenting with shape, texture, sewing, vintage textiles, denim, and found materials — pulling together techniques that weren’t necessarily meant to live in the same piece.

And somewhere in that process, Knot Perfect found its voice.

Knot Perfect Today

Today, I create small-batch handbags and one-of-a-kind pieces that mix vintage influence with modern design. Some begin with yarn. Others begin with a piece of denim, an old textile, or a fabric I simply can’t leave behind. Crochet may become the structure, the texture, or just one unexpected detail.

I don’t want every piece to look exactly alike.

I want them to feel related — like they came from the same closet, not the same factory.

That’s also where Knot Perfect comes from. It isn’t about making something flawless. Handmade things carry evidence of the hands that made them — texture, variation, history, and character. Those are the things I’m interested in preserving, not removing.

The dragonfly woven into Knot Perfect is a symbol of change, resilience, and creating something beautiful from wherever life has taken you.

After nearly three decades as an emergency nurse, making things with my hands uses a very different part of me. But the attention to detail, the instinct to problem-solve, and the belief that small things matter came with me.

Now they just show up in stitches, fabric, hardware, and the occasional pair of jeans I decide deserves another life.

Every Knot Perfect piece is made by hand, in small batches, with its own combination of materials and details.
